Full-Telescoping style

Telescoping shoe-style boxes with a separate lid, from Chittagong EPZ

The shoe box is the format everyone recognises: a base tray and a lid that slides down over it. That two-piece, full-telescoping design opens cleanly with no flaps, doubles the board where the lid laps the base, and gives you a wide, uninterrupted lid to print — ideal for footwear, gift sets and premium retail packs.

How it is built

Two pieces, a clean slide-on lid

A full-telescoping box is two separate trays: a base that holds the product and a lid sized to slide down over the full depth of that base. Where the two walls overlap you get a double thickness of corrugated board all the way round, which is why the format feels solid in the hand and stacks reliably even in lighter flutes. There are no flaps to fold and no tape line across the face — the lid simply lifts off and drops back on.

For retail, the appeal is the lid. It is a large, flat, flap-free surface that takes brand artwork, product photography, barcodes and care icons cleanly. We print the lid in-house, control the lid-to-base fit so it slides snug but not tight, and supply pre-production samples for buyer sign-off. A partial telescope, where the lid covers only part of the base, is available when you want the base colour or print to show below the lid edge.

When to choose telescoping

For a premium unbox

Choose a telescoping box when presentation matters and you want a lift-off lid, or when a two-piece pack simplifies filling on the line. It is the natural fit for footwear, apparel gift sets and retail bundles.

Telescoping box FAQs

What is a full-telescoping box?

A full-telescoping box is made of two separate pieces — a base tray and a lid that slides down over it. In a full telescope the lid covers the full depth of the base; in a partial telescope it covers only part. The shoe box is the most familiar example.

Why use a two-piece telescoping box?

The separate lid gives a clean, premium opening with no flaps to fold, doubles the wall thickness where lid and base overlap for extra strength, and presents a large uninterrupted surface for retail print on the lid.

Can telescoping boxes be printed for retail?

Yes. The lid is an ideal print surface for brand artwork, product photos and barcodes. We print in-house and provide pre-production samples for buyer approval before the run.
